Making the steam stuff in my steam game
This month are the month for steam stuff. There is a lot of thinks you need to publish to steam.
The first was to create an account as developer, this was more scary than difficult, because the tax and law sections are full of arcane language than can summon an inspector in the near future.
For the game page, I need to create a lot of text and images, even a trailer. Luckily, I been following a lot of professionals that share their wisdom with the mere mortals.
Preparing the journey
The first task was to use the advice from Derek Lieu. I made a control that allow to change the state of the game in runtime.
With this panel, I planned the "shots" of my trailers in advance, so I didn't have to play around for hours to get to the point I wanted to record. Also, the game has a high level of randomization in attacks, with this tool I can set the precise attacks I want.
The steam page need 5 screenshots minimum, with the control panel was easy to take it at my will with ShareX
The trailer was a little more difficult. I recorded 11 minutes of gameplay, including changes with the control panel. All that to make a 3 minute trailer. I had to do the process several times.
You can check the trailer in youtube
Get ready for the world
The text needed for the steam page was mainly descriptions, short and long. I can write in English and Spanish with confident, but I needed more…
Steam recommended that translate the game page to the cjk languages, (Chinese (simplified), Japanese and Korean. Asians do not typically have English as a secondary language on their Steam stores. Your game will have a better chance of being shown to the Asian population with your page translated into these languages.
I founded an online translation service with a good per word price. I spent about 60€ to translate the descriptions.
Capsules, Headers, Icons and other exotic creatures

In addition to the screenshots, you need a bunch of images that represent your game in different part of the steam store ecosystem. This must be consistent in colors and motive, but with a lot of size and proportions.
I made it by myself, this time I didn’t follow the marketing master Chris Zukowski, but I need to end the page quick.
Finished the page. Starting to share
I sent to revision a few days ago. Steam spent 3 to 5 working days to review the page and check that all is OK. After this I put the publish button and start to share the good news with all of you.
